Thought for Meditation
“A woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, was listening. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was spoken by Paul.” If you have ever tried to talk to someone, you know how fruitless it can be when their heart is closed to what you are saying. Before talking to someone about a matter of a sensitive nature, first pray and ask the Lord to open their heart to what you will say. Especially before sharing the Gospel with an unbeliever, ask the Lord by His Spirit to open their heart to the words you speak. This truth is applicable in marriage, raising children, employee relationships, friendships, etc. The Lord specializes in opening the hearts of folks.
Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” If the Lord can turn a king’s heart as He wills, then surely He can turn others’ hearts to listen to you.
